Belgian Open G1 2025
Another top ten place for Anna Schneeberger!
Countries such as Macau, Guatemala and distant Australia came to the difficult-to-reach Belgian town of Lommel for this tournament, which is only listed as a G1 tournament this year. Travel to and from the tournament and the very limited accommodation in the surrounding area are very challenging. In addition, the organizers always manage to make the tournament run very slowly. We were in the hall at 8 a.m. for the scheduled start of the tournament and Anna's class - which is the elite class of the whole tournament - started at 5:30 p.m. with the first round. Final finish at 22:15? - G-status should look different.
The quality of the field of participants was all the more pleasing, with the world number 3 Guatekin beating the world number 1 from Denmark in the final! A small insight into the class of the participants.
As in the previous competitions, Anna again finished in the top ten in 9th place. There are nuances that still need to be worked out in order to take the decisive step forward. But it is precisely these details that are the most tedious and enormously time-consuming. This makes it all the more important to keep putting these steps into practice at these top-level tournaments. The air is thin up there and it's a constant battle against yourself and your teammates. On day X (European Championships/World Championships), all the components have to fit in order to achieve the coveted success.
